5A Molecular Sieve

Divalent calcium ions in place of sodium cations give apertures of ~5 which exclude molecules of effective diameter >5, e.g., all 4-carbon rings, and iso-compounds.
The aperture of 5A molecular sieve, generally called as calcium molecular sieve, is about 5 angstroms. Besides the functions of 3A and 4A, 5A also has the function of adsorbing normal-hydrocarbons of C3-C4, ethane chloride, ethane bromide, butanol, etc. It can be used to adsorb the moisture, carbon dioxide and some organic gases in the oxygen-making industry.
